Deadly Women was an American True Crime Documentary Series focusing on femme fatale villains with each episode featuring 3 different stories with similar themes.
This project really challenged my ability to design intimate sets at a rapid pace. This series required my team to produce 20 stories over the course of 2 months. With an allotted time of 1.5 days for each story, my team was often dressing sets for stories days in advance while still filming other stories in other parts of the location. The speed of this production reminded me the importance of prioritising details to ensure the set built on the story being told. That being said, we were pushing hard to make sure the sets were as detailed as possible, with the limitations of covid-19 and time, I believe my team and I really stepped up and this was a big turning point in how I approach all my jobs from this point on.
Covid-19 Filming
This series was filmed during the Covid-19 2020 lockdown and required all crew to work in a much more confined setting than usual. We were limited to locations, and were often required to reuse rooms on location for multiple stories during the course of filming. These limitations challenged me to design sets on a much more intimate scale, focusing on the details rather than a wider aspect to communicate the motions and mindset of the person of interest.
